This week we look at a case that has just exploded into the headlines, that seems to strengthen the hand of employers dramatically when workers band together to talk about problems you are having at work. It’s a case about pay cuts and a private WhatsApp group, and focuses on how you can be in an online chat group talking about work issues, and then suddenly find yourself facing the sack, for breaching company policy.
We look at your employment rights in this situation, and why employers are coming after workers in online work-related chat groups.
It's our view, that the more you are able to acquaint yourself with your employment rights in this area, the more your rights will act as an early warning system, which you can use to spot bad treatment or illegal treatment that you may be suffering at work.
